Fostering Innovation: Unveiling ‘The Teaching Tree’ at La Biennale Di Venezia
For the 59th International Art Exhibition, La Biennale Di Venezia, we are proud to have been involved in the creation and installation of artist Muhannad Shono’s extraordinary 40-meter artwork for the Saudi Arabian Pavillion. Shono’s participation at the Biennale is paving the way for Saudi artists to come. We love working with creatives that are reshaping the art scene.
Shono designed a large-scale sculptural installation for the Saudi Arabian Pavilion titled ‘The Teaching Tree.’ Shono’s work is a projection of Saudi Arabia’s growth and continuity in the art scene. His piece comes alive by using pneumatics, movement, and palm trees.
The installation spans the entire pavilion of Saudi Arabia, beginning from where you enter and extending all the way to the back. To realize the artist’s vision, the process began months before the event: building the structure’s skeleton out of metal, designed to support over 10,000 palms. The palms were handpicked, dried, and painted black. We can’t wait to see what comes next from this groundbreaking artist!
