Illuminating Traditions: Weaving New Horizons in Art & Light
Muhannad Shono’s piece ‘Threads of Light’ is inspired by the region’s maritime traditions. Taking over an entire building in Riyadh Malaz, Shono creates an immersive experience by combining fishing nets and light. Shono and Craft worked together on sound and site adaptation, prototyping, fabrication, installation, and light projection.
This year’s Noor Riyadh, an annual festival of light and art, is titled ‘We Dream of New Horizons.’ The event displays over 190 artworks and is a collection of monumental and interactive installations, ephemeral sculptures, laser projections, and drone shows by both Saudi and international artists.
The festival is curated by: Curated by: Dorothy Di Stefano, Herve Mikaeloff, and Jumana Ghouth and is a collaboration with Riyadh Art & Royal Commission for Riyadh City.
